Renewable Energy in Ireland

In 2020, 43% of our electricity came from renewable energy sources, and the Irish governments stated ambition is to increase this to 80% by 2030. Effective management of the delivery of electricity through our national grid is now more important than ever. This proposal aims to facilitate our country’s transition to a low carbon society by providing zero-carbon stability services to the grid system and is being brought forward under Mayne Stability Limited which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Statkraft Ireland.

By integrating what is known as a Synchronous Compensator onto the electricity grid system at this location, we will reduce our reliance on the fossil fuel generators that have traditionally provided these grid stability services.
