This Project
Statkraft has been involved in Ireland's renewable energy sector since 2018, investing millions in the country's renewable infrastructure. Through grid services, wind, and solar developments, our knowledge and expertise are supported by the dedicated teams in Cork and Tullamore. We are committed to delivering affordable, sustainable energy solutions to the Irish grid system while actively engaging with local communities. Our goal is to harness Ireland’s natural resources to produce clean energy that addresses current energy needs and ensures a greener future for all.

As a leading renewable energy company, we are presenting the Patrick's Rock Solar proposal near Cashel. This proposal aims to harness solar energy while contributing to Ireland's renewable energy targets and assisting in providing a sustainable solution for the region's energy needs.
After careful site selection, this proposed renewable energy project blends seamlessly with the rich history of one of Ireland's most influential regions. The rural landscapes offer an ideal location for this renewable energy proposal, merging its historical heritage with a sustainable future.
The shift to a low-carbon economy will require some changes in Ireland’s landscape, and we understand that renewable energy projects may generate mixed views within communities. Some people may find solar panels aesthetically pleasing and symbolic of a better future, while others may dislike their appearance. Our goal is to provide accurate information on our plans and to seek feedback on the following aspects: how to design this project in a way that maximises its sustainability and suitability for the local area, and how the associated Community Benefit Fund (CBF) could make a meaningful contribution to the lives of local people. Furthermore, by developing renewable energy projects, we aim to ensure safe, secure energy that can sustain the country's long-term needs, contributing to Ireland's energy independence and future development.
The proposed solar project addresses several critical needs:
- Reducing reliance on fossil fuels and lowering carbon emissions
- Meeting Ireland's renewable energy targets set by national and EU guidelines
- Providing a reliable and sustainable energy source
- Enhancing energy security and diversifying the energy mix
