Project Being Considered

An area south east of Ballyvourney in Co. Cork was identified as having the potential for the development of a suitable and appropriate wind farm development. Design works, surveys and consultation with the local community are ongoing with the view to identifying how a project would work best in this area and bring the most benefit to the local community.

Additional Project Information

  • Turbine tip heights in the range of approximately 185–200 metres are being considered as part of the ongoing design process.
  • A full Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR) will accompany the future planning application.
  • Associated infrastructure is expected to include internal access tracks, turbine foundations, drainage systems, temporary construction facilities, and underground electrical and communications cabling, subject to refinement as studies progress. 
  • The project is expected to contribute up to €25 million in commercial rates to  Cork County Council over its operational lifetime  
  •  Application expected to be lodged with An Coimisiún Pleanála in Q4 2026.
